The Mericopa Association of Governments' Heat Relief Network
The Maricopa Association of Governments’ Heat Relief Network is a regional partnership of organizations unified in a concerted effort to mitigate the effects of extreme summer temperatures on vulnerable populations in Arizona.
Recognizing that extreme heat is not just a mild discomfort but a significant public health issue, the Heat Relief Network steps in as a beacon of hope for many. The intense summers of Arizona, particularly in Maricopa County, often lead to heat-related illnesses, and in some unfortunate cases, deaths.
The Heat Relief Network, with its multi-faceted approach, seeks to prevent these heat-related problems through three key services: providing hydration stations, refuge locations, and water donation sites throughout Maricopa County. By focusing on these areas, the Heat Relief Network has been instrumental in providing relief to those most vulnerable during the scorching summer months, including the homeless, elderly, and economically disadvantaged.
